We secured funding for our most recent project through Think Health Think Nature. Our challenge was for all our service users and staff to collectively walk, run or cycle the 837 miles (shortest cycle route) from Land’s End to John O’Groats over a period of 6 weeks. We achieved this goal (our final total was 838.5 miles) through a mixture of activities including walking, indoor cycling sessions at the gym when the weather wasn’t so good, Bikeability sessions with Skye MTB Adventures, and even some tandem cycling from Ester and her dad! Our supporters in the community also recorded a fantastic total of 1787.6 miles during this time – thank you everyone!
Another part of the project was achieved with the help of Greg Dobson and his new enterprise ‘Create’ – we have been working together to restore Jamie’s KC trike.
This Green Health Event/activity is part of a programme being delivered by the Highland Green Health Partnership, which is aiming to encourage more of us to make use of our local green and blue spaces as part of ‘Our Natural Health Service’.
This project was made possible with funding from the EU LEADER Rural Development Fund and Scottish Natural Heritage.
