Kyleakin Connections Limited (formally SLAD)
Skye and Lochalsh Association for Disability (SLAD) was founded in 1981 and our name was changed in 2020 to Kyleakin Connections Limited and is a registered Scottish Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee.
We operate a day resource for adults with learning disabilities called Kyleakin Connections. We also manage Individual Service Funds (ISF) for individuals by providing 1:1 support.
We have a Board of Directors who are all volunteers.
Part funding is provided by NHS Highland. Supplementary funding has been provided by fundraising events organised by KC, donations, external funders and running our own Nice Cafe & Bookshop.
Opening hours – Wednesday to Friday between 09.30am and 4.30pm / Cafe – Wednesdays only 11.00am to 2.30pm.
Our Aims
Are to encourage independent living for people with learning disabilities, to help develop their independence and to lead ordinary, fully inclusive lives within the community.
We offer a safe environment where people can come together to learn new skills and improve existing skills.
Activities in addition to operating our Cafe, include life skills, educational work, cooking, arts & crafts, projects, conservation, gardening, gaining various qualifications, outdoor pursuits, IT work, partnerships with other bodies, and much much more.
